If, by chance, we don't re-sign Cordero, we are in a mighty pickle in terms of a closer. I still don't think that Turnbow is closer matieral, and we'd pretty much head into Spring Training either without a clue about who is closer, or end up converting someone in the organization into a closer. What's the feeling about Turnbow out there? When he's on -- first half of season -- he's on. But when he's off -- second half of the season -- he's off. This year as the set-up guy was almost a carbon copy of last year when he was the closer. First half -- great. Second half -- totally inconsistent.

This makes far more sense to me now. Braun may eventually become better at third, but he will probably never play consistently good defense there.

He has the speed to play the outfield. He will not be Jenkins -by any stretch- defensively. But it still makes the most sense. Why dump 50-60 million on a weak free agent market? read more »

I don't know what the market value is for him, and considering Pudge just signed with Detroit for over $10 million, it will probably be alot, but what other good catcher is out there right now? We can't keep Estrada as a full time catcher and need to get someone. You're loosing Jenkins' $7 million, so add a few more and try to get Posada. I know he's no rowand or hunter, but i'd rather have him than Mench or even Gross. We haven't had a decent basestealer since him and he wouldn't cost much and he also has postseason experience.
