He's likely going to opt out of his contract with Seattle. He would be a great fit for us IMO. We are talking about how much we need a RH power impact bat that can play LF (not CF like the top OFs in FA), who can go in the middle of the order.

In steps Jose Guillen. Right handed bat, can play LF, who could protect Pujols. He's only 31 years old, and in 2007 he hit .290 with 23 HRs, 99 RBIs, and an .813 OPS. He's got enough talent to hit .290+ with 30 HRs though, as he did in 2003. Cardinals need to get him, as he is the one potential FA that makes the most sense offensively to get. If we could sign him, we could trade Duncan for pitching, and if we made a trade for Renteria, we'd have a good 2-3-4-5 of Ankiel-Pujols-Guillen-Renteria. If Rolen came back to even his 2006 form (when he hit .296 with 22 HRs and 96 RBIs) then we're talking an even better offense. Just having that balanced attack would be enough to give us a push to the playoffs with the right pitchers added.

Guillen should be added to #2 on our offseason player pursuit list.
