Time to be smart about it. Sign Schilling to a 1 year deal with option for year 2 based upon incentives. Get team option for year 3. Worse that happens, he has a bad year & the deal is done after 1 year. If he has a decent year, it gives the young guns a chance to come along slowly with less pressure, and you still have a guy who is a big game pitcher come playoff time, even if he isn't the number 2 guy. On top of that, Schilling wants to be here. This is a no-brainer.
