Mets are going to buy him out of their $10m mutual 2008 option.

LH bat, has played LF, RF, 1b, and could DH.

Solid average & high OBP vs. RHP. Good D. Not much power or speed left.

Nice skill set to go with Thames' power in a L/R platoon.

Signing him for 2 years ($8m total?) would not block Maybin in 2009,
as Green could get 300 abs backing up LF, RF, 1B, DH. read more »

If some team were insane enough to offer Todd Jones a 3-year, $18 mill contract (just for example...), would anyone be opposed to bringing in Gagne on a 1-year contract?

To mentor Zoom, fit in wherever needed, etc... (sometimes closer, and then make way for Zoom if/when he's ready)?

I've been broadcasting Cliff Floyd here for over two weeks.

He's a nice fit! He's a lefty bat - He's willing to play 100 games in a platoon atmosphere - has some power - plus can be plugged-in at 1B occasionally.
